The apartments are being built on previously developed land to prevent urban sprawl. The previous concrete structure was crushed and the concrete rubble is being used in the new construction to limit the amount of waste going to landfills.
The property facilitates alternative transportation by providing shuttles to local businesses, extensive bicycle storage, carpool parking, fuel efficient parking and electric charging stations.
All rain & irrigation water from the site will be either reused for irrigating plants or will be filtered before entering the City storm water system.
Over 75% of the waste created during the construction process will be diverted from landfills and recycled at local recycling centers.
Materials used in construction will be purchased locally and be made of recycled elements when possible.
The apartments will use at least 15% less energy than standard construction buildings of its kind.
